Fresh Raspberry Lemonade Recipe - Fireflies and Mud Pies (1)

It’s countyfair week in Ogemaw County and I have to tell you, I have never visited a more classic fair! As I walked the winding paths under mature shade trees and explored the animal barns with my boys, I often felt like a character from the children’s book Charlotte’s Web. Even one of the pig stalls contained a picture-perfect spider web and I would not have been surprised to find the word “humble” woven into it.

For many, the end of fair week symbolizes the end of summer, but I’m not ready for that yet! You’ll find me sitting by the lake with my boys, reminiscing about the county fair andcatching frogs, while sipping a cool glass of fresh homemaderaspberry lemonade.

Though insanely bright, this homemade raspberry lemonade does not contain any artificial coloring or flavoring. Raspberries sweeten and tint the lemonade a flowery pink that compliments summer.

If you have space in your fridge, I recommend preparing a double batch!

How to Make Raspberry Lemonade

Making raspberry lemonade from scratch has never been easier! It’s the perfect thirst quencher for hot summer days, picnics, or afternoons at the lake.

Step 1: Make the Raspberry Syrup

Heat 1 cup of frozen raspberries and 1 cup of sugar over medium heat until the mixture is warm and bubbly. Be careful not to overcook!

Tip: Leftover frozen berries? Use them to make homemade Kombucha Tea!

Step 2: Strain the Raspberry Syrup

Pour the raspberry syrup through a mesh strainer to remove the seeds. If you don’t mind small seeds and pulp in your lemonade, skip this step.

Step 3: Squeeze the Lemons

While the raspberry syrup is cooling, fill a pitcher with 7 cups of cold water. Slice 8 lemons, then use a lemon juicer to squeeze the juice directly into the pitcher. Stir in the fragrant raspberry syrup.

Step 4: Stir and Add Sugar

Taste the lemonade. If it’s too sour, add sugar one tablespoon at a time until the lemonade has reached desired sweetness. If it’s too sweet, add some more lemon juice.

Tip: Some of the sugar tends to stay behind in the raspberry pulp, so I usually add another 2–4 tablespoons of sugar to the lemonade after adding the syrup.
