Common Questions About Teeth Whitening
Is teeth whitening painful?+–
In some cases, you may experience temporary sensitivity following your whitening treatment. Whitening products penetrate the surface through tiny tubules in enamel. Your teeth are prone to sensitivity until the minerals in saliva close the tubules. To help prevent this, avoid consuming very hot or cold substances for a few hours after whitening.
Can I eat after my teeth whitening treatment?+–
You’ll want to avoid eating or drinking for at least four hours after your whitening treatment. Just sip water during that time. In fact, during the first 48 hours, we recommend a diet of “white” foods, like bread, pasta, yogurt, rice, milk, turkey, and chicken. Your teeth are porous after the whitening, which makes them more susceptible to staining. To achieve the best results and to experience less sensitivity, adjust your diet those first few days.
