MANITOWOC - Happy Halloween!

Here's a last-minute reminder of trick-or-treat times:

  • Community trick or treat is from5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 in Manitowoc, Two Rivers and Mishicot.
  • A "Spooky Spectacular" event that was to be held at Walsh Field in Two Rivers has been canceled because of the weather.

Now, onto this week's activities ...

1.Watch a free screening of 'Coco'

Two Rivers Parks and Recreation will have a free movie night inside J.E. Hamilton Community House at 7 p.m. Friday on the big screen. ThePixar animated movie "Coco" will be shown in recognition of the Day of the Day.

The event will also include sugar skulls to paint and take home (with proceeds benefiting special events) beginning at 6 p.m.All are invited to attend the event in costume, and kids up to age 13 can enter a costume contest at 6:30 p.m.

Concessions will be available for purchase. J.E. Hamilton Community House is at 1710 W. Park St., Two Rivers.

2. AttendLakeshore Big Band concert

The UW-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus, Lakeshore Big Band will present a concert titled “Passion” at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St.

According to the Capitol Civic Centre website: "Bring someone you love, and share songs like 'My Romance,' 'Isn’t It Romantic,' 'Fever' … and more! Aerialist Linda DiRaimondo from Cycropia Aerial Dance Troupe in Madisonwill wow guests as she performs above the stage along with special guests Roncalli High School Jazz Band."

Adult main floor and mezzanine tickets are $16; adult balcony tickets are $9; and student tickets are $9. Tickets can be ordered at the Capitol Civic Centre’s Box Office, by calling 920-683-2184 or by visiting cccshows.org.

3. Hear the curious history of downtown Manitowoc

Two Rivers hosts free movie 'Coco,' and more things to do this week on the Lakeshore (3)

Manitowoc's longest consecutive serving mayor, Kevin Crawford, will share "The Curious History of Downtown Manitowoc" from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday. It will be the first of a two-part series, with the second part being from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 11.

The presentations will be held at Manitowoc Public Library, 707 Quay St.

Crawford was mayor for a total of 20 years, from 1989 until 2009. During that time, Manitowoc's landscape changed drastically. His presentation on Monday will focus on "Harbor Town/Downtown" and the Nov. 11 presentation will focus on "City on the Water."A question-and-answer period will immediately follow both of the presentations. 4. Learn to play the ukulele

Also at Manitowoc Public Library this week, at 6 p.m. Nov. 7, instructors from Take Note Studio will be providing free beginner ukulele lessons for all ages.

Online registration is required, as space is limited. Registration was to begin Nov. 1. Adults must accompany children younger than 8 at all times.

5. See The Masquers''Mamma Mia!'

The Masquers Community Theater Company will bring “Mamma Mia!” to the Capitol Civic Centre stage Nov. 7-10.

A description of the show said: "ABBA's hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman's search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. The story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship, creating an unforgettable show."

Shows will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7-10 with a 2 p.m. matinee on Nov. 10. Tickets are $26 for adults and $17 for students.Tickets can be ordered at the Capitol Civic Centre’s Box Office, by calling 920-683-2184 or by visiting cccshows.org.

Manitowoc's St. Francis of Assisi School will hold its annual International Food Fair from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Roncalli High School, 2000 Mirro Drive.

The event is for adults only and is open to the public, with punch cards sold to sample assorted foods from around the world. Also included is a silent auction and oral auction, along with cash and gift raffles.

7. Dance the polka

8. Get ready for Wayzgoose Conference

The Wayzgoose Conference returns to Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum in Two Rivers Nov. 8-10.

According to the museum's website:"The Wayzgoose was originally an entertainment given by a master-printer to his workmen to mark the beginning of the season of working by candlelight. In later years, it meant an annual festivity held in summer by the employees of a printing establishment, consisting of a dinner and often an excursion into the country."
