3 Laws of Attraction: Start with the Present is Always Perfect (2024)

There are three key Laws of Attraction.

A law is something that works whether you believe in it or not, like the law of gravity, which does not rely on your beliefs to function. Like gravity and the other laws of physics, the Laws of Attraction don’t require you to believe in them to work. So feel free to remain skeptical. As you start to apply the Laws of Attraction to your life, you can simply observe what happens.

The 3 Laws of Attraction are:

  1. Like Attracts Like
  2. Nature Abhors a Vacuum
  3. The Present is Always Perfect

From these three laws there are a number of principles which are extrapolations from the original law, like attracts like. Then, there are a number of simple steps or life coaching tips you can use to apply these principles or laws to your current life, enabling you to effortlessly attract the things, people and opportunities you desire. I know it sounds a bit magical, but you’ll soon see how it works. The Laws of Attraction are actually based on physics more than most realize.

1. Like Attracts Like.

People say that opposites attract. That can be true (and magnets do attract the opposite polarity), but it’s more often that like attracts like. For example, we are more likely to have tall friends if we are tall. We even tend to marry people with similar socio-economic backgrounds and similar levels of vocabulary. However, what it really means is that our thoughts attract our results. This is simply because what we think about and believe, we tend to do. Our actions then produce the results we have in life.

Limited and negative thinking leads to limited action, or even counterproductive action, and produces negative results. If you have the negative thought, “Money is the root of all evil” it is not likely that you’ll take action that would lead to your financial success, given you have such negative associations with money. After all, why would you want to be evil? In fact, if you do happen to effortlessly attract money, you’ll probably fritter it away.

The first step to attracting wealth is to eliminate the negative beliefs you have. The next step is to replace those with positive beliefs and then work to make that new positive belief feel real to you by cementing it with action. For example, you might open a savings account and every week deposit $100 while saying, “I’m effortlessly growing my wealth.” It helps to remember that money is neither good nor evil, but simply a tool that can be used to create good in the world. You can use a hammer to build a house or you can use a hammer to clock someone on the head. Try not to blame the tool.

I’ve previously discussed a very critical corollary: The Present is Always Perfect (and you can alsoPerfect the Present).

If you want to become more attractive, it makes sense to eliminate anything that might make you repellent. This is obvious on a surface level; if you have bad breath or a cold sore, no one will want to kiss you. However, it also works on a deeper level. If you have unmet emotional needs you’ll appear needy at some level. We all sense neediness and run from it instinctively.

“If You Don’t Need It, You Are More Likely to Attract It.”

Neediness in any form is inherently repellent. This follows from the Law of Attraction, like attracts like, because a lack of something attracts more of a lack of something, just like negative thoughts attract more negative thoughts in a vicious cycle that is hard to break. This is why debt attracts more debt, savings attracts more money, and it is always easier to get a new job when you are currently employed—you don’t need the job.

Given how critical emotional need satisfaction is to attraction it is curious that few people know what their own top four personal and emotional needs are (while at the same time unfairly expecting our romantic partner and loved ones to intuitively figure our needs out). I created a free quiz so that you can identify your own needs in about twenty minutes here.

Satisfying your personal and emotional needs works with all three Laws of Attraction.

2. Nature Abhors a Vacuum.

The second Law of Attraction is based on the laws of thermodynamics. It is impossible to create a completely empty space because atoms are always bouncing around and immediately fill any empty space. Practically, you’ve experienced how this works when you empty your junk drawer and find it full of stuff a few weeks later. This is why Marie Kondo was correct when she said that tidying is life-changing. By creating space in our lives, we easily attract new things. For more on clearing clutter, check out these posts.

3. The Present is Always Perfect.

It always looks like the present isn’t perfect. There are wars going on somewhere on the planet, children starving to death, masses of emails piling up in your inbox, you can’t stand your job or your boss is driving you mad. It is hard to see how bad things can be perfect or even good. It is very hard to tell in the moment which is why I love The Parable of the Chinese Farmer. The trick to activating the third Law of Attraction is to make your current reality as perfect as possible.

Let’s say that you hate your job and dread going to work. Instead of complaining about your boss or work, imagine that you will never be able to leave your current job so you have no choice but to master it and make it as perfect as possible. This might mean learning some aspect of the job you’d rather not do or learning how to manage a difficult boss or colleague. Or, volunteering to do work that is more interesting in addition to keeping pace with your current work tasks. Then, when you finally get it to the point where you are not desperate to get out of there (because you’ve perfected the situation), you’ll find you’ll attract the perfect next job. Like attracts like! If you want the perfect job, perfect the one you already have.

This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t contact head-hunters or post your resume. You may need to be out there looking, but at the same time, perfect your current situation. The candidate who is happy in their work will be more attractive to prospective employers, as well as more likely to be promoted within their current company. Instead of complaining about your job to your friends or colleagues, talk about the job you do want, the one you’d like to attract. This is a simple example of how you might implement the Laws of Attraction in your life.

Here is a life coaching assignment to apply this Law of Attraction to your own life:

Take one aspect of your life this week and perfect it. Don’t just clean it up, make it absolutely perfect.

For example, if you decide toclean your closet, don’t just toss the old clothes out and put everything back in. Buy matching high-quality hangers for all your clothes so that they hang nicely. Sew on all the missing buttons and mend any fallen hems. Polish your shoes and take the ones with worn heels to be repaired. Give away anything you haven’t worn in a year or that you’ll never wear again. Organize everything by color and category. Get all the right storage tools for your belts, shoes, etc. Use the “California Closet” system as your model.

One of my clients splurged and had her closets done professionally. She couldn’t believe how easy it was to get dressed every day. Opening her closet door became a daily joy for her. When you open your closet in the morning, the perfection of it will give you energy.

Pick one area of your life this week. Perfect it to the point where it makes you feel fabulous!

Ultimately, every single aspect of your life can be perfected. For now, just pick one thing and get started. You’ll soon find that the process of perfecting the present becomes easier as you create natural momentum and gain more and more energy with each perfected space. (Not sure where to start?
