We don’t eat a lot of sweets year around, but making cookies or other sweets during the Christmas season has been something I’ve enjoyed with family and friends. After all, what’s better than flour all over the kitchen and the dining room, Christmas music playing, and lots of kids laughing. These Christmas cookie recipes are ones that we’ve come to make every year.

They are traditional and modern and all from scratch. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

7 Christmas Cookie Recipes

Each recipe is made from scratch (except the bonus recipe on the bottom, which is just an easy, ridiculous and crazy candy that my daughter loves).

Let’s just dive in with my own cookie recipes first.

Best Every Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

This cookie is THE cookie my family will make or is requested to make when anyone wants cookies. It’s definitely our favorite, so I hope you enjoy it. It has oatmeal goodness, but with chocolate chip deliciousness. They are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

I’ve even cut the sugar and made then into breakfast muffin dollops as well. Like I said, we’ve loved these over the years and they are our number one go to recipe.

Ultimate Earthquake Cookies

One of my boys loves these cookies. They are fun to make and delicious. Some earthquake cookies get dry quickly. These do not because on the chocolate chips added. They are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Adding the chocolate chips just sends it over the edge of chocolate goodness.

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 6 Tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips

Slow as Molasses Cookies from Houseful of Nicholes

These molasses cookies have a delicious ginger, molasses, and cinnamon flavor. I love that they’re chewy as well. I believe they can be baked longer for that crispy ginger snap type of cookie.

I wanted to direct you to some delicious gluten free options as well. This recipe uses almond flour, making it gluten free (and it’s also dairy free). I love coconut! These make a great, crunchy cookie. A favorite of mine with tea.
