Can you use 2 piece bats in high school baseball? ›

‍19u: To be considered a wood bat, a bat must be made of a single piece of wood. All other bats such as bamboo or two piece must meet the BBCOR standards and have the BBCOR stamp. ​Bat rules apply to the age division you are playing in (not the age of the player or team).

When To Start Using A BBCOR Bat. Baseball players will be required to transition to a BBCOR baseball bat when they enter high school. The typical age range at which a player transitions from a drop 5 bat to a BBCOR bat is generally 13-14 years old.

The bat shall be a smooth, round stick not more than 2.61 inches in diameter at the thickest part and not more than 42 inches in length. The bat shall be one piece of solid wood. Bats are not allowed to be hollowed or corked—that is, filled with an alien substance such as cork which reduces the weight.

What are the current rules and regulations regarding Adult baseball bats? Adult baseball bats must have a -3 length to weight ratio and 2” barrel. In high school and collegiate sanctioned leagues, bats must be 31"-34" long to be legal.

HIGH SCHOOL: All non-wood bats MUST not weigh more than three ounces less than the length of the bat (e.g., a 33-inch long bat cannot be less than 30 ounces) and MUST meet the Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) performance standard, and such bats shall be labeled with the BBCOR certification mark.

All baseball bats used in our league are to be drop 10 (-10) or lower. The "drop weight" is the difference between the length and weight of the bat. A drop 9 or -9 bat would be legal. A drop 11 or -11 would be illegal.

According to USSSA guidelines, all 13U players must swing a bat no lighter than a drop 8 bat drop, and all 14U players must swing a bat no lighter than a drop 5 bat drop. While restrictions are in place to limit which bats players can swing, there remain several options for USSSA players to choose from.

So the answer to the very common question "Where can I find a BBCOR bat that has a -5 length to weight ratio?" is that "Those regrettably do not exist. All BBCOR bats are required to be -3 or heavier". As a result of being a standardized drop weight, the main difference with these models is their swing weights.

Weight drops vary in Senior League baseball, but players 10 years old and under often use -10 weight drop bat. Players 12 years old and under often use a -8 weight drop, and 13 year old players often use a -5 weight drop. These are recommendations.

What is the difference between BBCOR and USSSA bats? ›

Unlike BBCOR bats, USSSA bats are not subjected to the same trampoline effect limitations, giving players a more dynamic hitting experience. The drop weight for USSSA bats varies, and you can find a broader range of drop weights compared to BBCOR bats.

Bats must be certified by the manufacturer to meet a Bat Performance Factor of 1.15 or less. Bats must be USSSA, USABat or BBCOR approved bats 8. In 14U bats will be restricted to a -3 ratio or heavier. (The weight of the bat in ounces as compared to it's length in inches, must be no greater than 3).

Composite bats are used in a number of different leagues. Most Little League programs have governing rules concerning composite bats. High school (NFHS) and Collegiate play are governed under the BBCOR standards. Metal or composite bats are not allowed in the MLB or its affiliates.

It's not an exact science, but generally speaking contact hitters will tend to prefer two-piece bats over one-piece bats. On the inverse, as you may have already guessed, power hitters tend to gravitate towards one-piece bats when making their bat rack selection.

A two-piece bat flexes more during bat/ball collision, creating more bat “whip”, increasing bat speed. More bat speed means more power.

Big barrel bats are bats with a barrel diameter larger than 2 1/4. This is the type of bat they'll use through High School and Senior League Baseball, so if you're going to invest a lot of money into a bat, this is the time to do it.
